Description

Sangarida La Guiana 2022 is the most ambitious and exclusive white wine from Sangarida, the Bierzo project of brothers Robustiano and Baldomero Fariña (Attis Bodega y Viñedos). Its name pays tribute to La Aquiana (1,846 m), one of the highest peaks of the Montes Aquilianos, which for centuries served as the visual landmark guiding pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago as they crossed the Bierzo.

Made with 100% Godello grapes from a single plot called La Tarea, located in the Paraje de Val de Paxariñas (Cacabelos), classified by the D.O. Bierzo as a Vino de Paraje—the highest territorial distinction of the appellation. The vineyard was planted in 1999 using the Burgundian method, with Guyot simple pruning, on a 2 x 1 planting frame, over sandy-loam soils with 20–25% clay, following a completely organic philosophy.

The winemaking is exceptionally precise and delicate: manual harvesting in 15 kg boxes with sorting at the winery entrance, complete destemming, and gentle pneumatic pressing. Spontaneous natural fermentation in new and used French oak and acacia barrels of 228 and 500 liters. The wine is aged in the same barrels for 12 months on the fine lees with regular batonnages, integrating the wood with great elegance.

It has an intense yellow color, clean and bright. On the nose, it is very intense and complex: plenty of ripe white fruit, fine notes of well-integrated wood, spicy touches, and a subtle but unmistakable minerality. On the palate, it is dense, luscious, and has magnificent acidity that provides freshness and direction, with the aromas remaining intense and complex. A white wine of great elegance, long persistence, and great aging potential.

Serving temperature: 10–12°C, decanting if possible. Ideal with white meats, fish stews, seafood, creamy rice dishes, and creamy cheeses.
