TOMATIN 12 Years AMARONE CASKS 2 of 3 Italian Collection 2010
Description
Tomatin 12 Year Old Amarone Casks 2010 is part of the Italian Collection, a limited edition of three single malts that share a common origin: all were distilled on December 6, 2010, and rested for ten years in ex-bourbon oak casks. In February 2021, each was transferred to casks that had previously held a great Italian wine (Marsala, Barolo, and Amarone) until bottling in June 2023.
This is the Amarone edition. Amarone della Valpolicella is made from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes that are allowed to passify before fermentation, producing a dry, powerful red wine full of ripe fruit. This character is carried over to the whisky: Tomatin's soft and approachable fruit gains depth with red fruit preserve, cherry, raisins, and cinnamon spices.
Bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and with natural color. A very interesting piece for those who enjoy wine-finished whiskies and for collectors of the distillery.
