Description

Domaine Nico Sœur et Frères - Histoire d'A Pinot Noir 2023 is the result of Laura Catena's obsession with Pinot Noir from Burgundy, transferred to the unique conditions of the Uco Valley, Mendoza, at 1,350 meters above sea level. sea.

Coming from a unique plot of 1.75 hectares planted in 1998 with Dijon 115 clones, this wine is fermented with native yeasts in roll-fermentors with 40% whole clusters, which provides texture and aromatic complexity. After an 11-day maceration and malolactic fermentation in barrels, the wine rests 12 months in French oak for different uses, achieving a perfect integration of the wood.

The nose shows delicate spices, herbal nuances that evoke fresh thyme and a slight minerality, with aromas and flavors of ripe red fruits that run through the entire palate. It is a multi-layered wine, with a refined palate, with sharp acidity and polished, fine tannins.

Domaine Nico is the first Pinot Noir from extreme altitude plots in the world, born from the alluvial and calcareous terroir of the Uco Valley, which speaks with an old world style surprising for the New World. James Suckling awarded it 96 points, placing it in position #31 of the Top 100 Wines of 2024.
