Tasting notes

7 - 9ºC.

Description

Attis Mar Albariño 2023 is the most unique and exclusive wine from Attis Bodega y Viñedos, a one-of-a-kind experience that takes the concept of Atlantic terroir to its fullest expression: an Albariño that ages for 6 months beneath the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, at a depth of 12 meters in the Galician Rías Baixas.

Made with 100% Albariño grapes from a selection of the winery's finest plots, with vines grown in trellises at least 50 years old, partly organically, overlooking the ocean in the Val do Salnés. The sandy-clay granite entisol soils, together with the direct Atlantic influence, provide the minerality and salinity so characteristic of this wine.

The winemaking follows the winery's artisanal process: hand-harvesting in 15 kg perforated boxes with sorting at the winery, complete destemming and pneumatic pressing, cold settling, and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 12-15°C. Subsequently, the wine undergoes 6 months of aging in tanks and oak foudre on its fine lees with batonnage. And here comes what makes this wine unique: the bottles are submerged for an additional 6 months underwater, at a depth of 12 meters, where the currents, pressure, and constant temperature of the Atlantic waters transform the wine, enhancing its freshness, acidity, minerality, and saline nuances in a way that no winery on land can replicate.
