Tempranillo

Tempranillo

TheTempranilloorInk of the Countryis a red grape native to Spain, known for its fundamental role in the production of some of the most prestigious wines in the country, such as those ofRiojaandRibera del Duero.

The nameTempranillocomes from the word "early", which reflects that this grape tends to ripen earlier than other varieties.

Characteristics of the Tempranillo grape:

Color: Produces wines with a deep, dark and reddish color.

Aromas and flavors: They are often described as wines with flavors of red and black fruits (cherry, plum, raspberry), with nuances of tobacco, leather, vanilla and spices, especially when the wine has been aged in oak barrels.

Body: It has a medium to robust body, depending on the region and the winemaking style.

Acidity and tannins: Moderate acidity and tannins, which gives it a balanced structure and allows it to age well in barrels.

It is a very versatile grape, which can produce both young and fresh wines as well as aged and complex ones.
